VAT invoice questions

Do I need to show VAT if I am not VAT registered?

No. If you are not VAT registered, you must not charge VAT or show a VAT number. Set the tax type to none and issue a normal invoice.

Can I issue a simplified VAT invoice?

Retailers can issue a simplified VAT invoice when the sale is £250 or less including VAT. It needs fewer details, but a full VAT invoice made here works for every amount.

How long must I keep VAT invoices?

HMRC requires you to keep VAT records, including copies of the invoices you issue, for at least 6 years.
